I also serve as the primary IT liaison between a business unit and the IT department, managing help desk tickets against SLAs, troubleshooting Active Directory and line-of-business application issues, and writing the SOPs and training materials that keep non-technical end users productive. Beyond my day-to-day work, I maintain a self-built enterprise-style lab running ProxMox and Hyper-V to host Windows and Linux virtual machines, where I manage Active Directory with DNS and DHCP, centralized logging and monitoring, backup and recovery, and hardened perimeter security using firewalls, IDS/IPS, and SSL/TLS. Before moving into systems support, I also spent two years on an IT help desk at the University of Colorado, which gave me an early foundation in customer-facing troubleshooting and documentation. Together, this gives me practical exposure to the kind of primary and backup systems administrator work this position requires — patching, monitoring server performance, correcting vulnerabilities, and keeping a wide range of interconnected systems running reliably.
